Help Us to fight Malaria

There are 198 million cases of malaria worldwide each year. The world population is 7.2 billion, and 3.2 billion people are at risk for contracting malaria. Annually, there are 584,000 deaths from malaria worldwide, with 90 percent occurring in Africa. 7 in 10 children under 5 die from malaria annually, and 200,000 infants die due to malaria during pregnancy. But … Since 2000, malaria mortality rates have dropped 47 percent globally and by 54 percent in Africa. Still, the annual cost of malaria to the world economy is more than $12 billion. Children in Africa miss up to 50 percent of school days due to malaria. That’s nearly 10 million missed days every year. Malaria is preventable. However, more than half of African households do not have insecticide-treated bed nets. Does poverty cause malaria, or does malaria cause poverty? YES.
